Hi, my introduction.....finally.

i have been reading posts for a while, but everytime i try and post my intro, i dont know what to say, so i suppose i will just write what comes to me.

lets see, i was born and raised in the "truth", i have never known anything else my whole life, so this is weird for me to think differently.

i was df'd about 4 years ago when i met my "worldly" husband, i have tried for the past 2 years to be reinstated, but i guess that i have not tried hard enough, according to the elders (who btw have not been very nice or loving toward me).

Wow that sounds lame. But if you are like I was, you tried and tried to be accepted back after your "fall" and there was just no letting you forget that you are an outcast. So you finally give up and boom, its like a switch goes on in your brain. And it is actually like a lightbulb. Once that light is on, you will go out of your way to show yourself that you are the good person and they are not who they claim. And the light gets brighter and brighter. ha ha I love telling people that. Anyway not to get carried away, as I sometimes do, I just want to say Welcome here, keep reading cuz all these people are fantastic and loving. Best wishes to your whole family.

PS. Just a side note, why are you not already shunned by your family, since you are DF isn't that the "new" policy. Or do your parents and siblings have that good old "natural afection"?

I need a good beating for what I did this morning

this morning i let my emotions run away with me and challenged my 20-year-old son into defending his loyalty to the watchtower shunning doctrine.

it was not good, im in no way proud of myself.

im sure he and my dub wife will likely mischaracterize it as an attack on god; anything said against the tower is always an attack on god.

Well I guess I'm odd man out here. I think it is good that you came on exactly the way you did Freeman. It shows passion. Passion is something everything in a relationship. It means you have feeling. Unlike the JW clonelike expression of nothingness, we who are finally of sound mind have feelings for things. After a certain amount of time it is going to come out. Maybe that is exactly what your son needs, after all do you have a sneaky suspicion that his troubles he is having perhaps could be attributed to the "LIE". We are humans. We are supposedly made in God's image (if you believe all that). Hey he's going to kill all his children, what's a little emotional outburst.

On a more serious note, I do agree with the others that advise you to visit the boys. They have no one but family now. It will be good to see a friendly and caring face. If your "loving" wife won't tell you, find out elsewhere. Perhaps just seeing that there is someone from there former lives that still does give a damn will help them get on the right path. (not the narrow one). Good luck! I hope your son realizes he can't find the answer to your question, and comes to you for advice as you sound like you are a godd man and will steer him well.

Did anything a householder said ever make an impression on you?

coming at this as a householder rather than an ex-jw, i'd love to hear from any of you about comments from householders that made an impression on you, back when you were active in the door-to-door work.

since the jw's first knocked at my door 13 years ago, i've done my best to give them something to think about every time they knock at my door.

i always introduce myself by name and try to get their names.

I remember being out with an "old timer" sister and she got some guy at the door. He asked how long that she had been a witness, which she replied "all my life". (she was in her 60's) He said and how can you be sure that what you are saying is true? She replied "God does not lie!" and he promises eternal life for those that follow him. The guy said "really eh, eternal life"? She said yes. To which he replied

"Well I hope you're right cuz if your not..........well...........you sure wasted this one!! SLAM!! I assumed he was thereafter a DNC.

Food for thought!!

i cant remember much up until i was ten except the usual no birthdays, no worldly friends or bad associates.

Do JW wedding vows provide a "way out"?

as many of you know, i just got married for a second time about two weeks ago.

i noticed a sharp distinction in the marriage vows as read to us by a justice of the peace when compared to the vows written by the wt society for jw weddings.. the traditional vow, as read by the jop, included the phrase "i take (insert name), (insert good and bad circumstances), until death do us part".. the jw vow says something to this effect: "i take (insert name), (insert other stuff), as long as we both shall live together under (or "according to") god's marital arrangement.".

the traditional vow sounds quite permanent to me.

The JW vow says something to this effect: "I take (insert name), (insert other stuff), AS LONG AS WE BOTH SHALL LIVE TOGETHER UNDER (or "according to") GOD'S MARITAL ARRANGEMENT."

Now when you read it as it appears above you get a little different meaning than when you read it like it should be read as below:

AS LONG AS WE BOTH SHALL LIVE,(comma)TOGETHER,(comma) UNDER GOD'S MARITAL ARRANGEMENT.

Now notice how the insertion of the appropriate punctuation changes the scripture,er statement,uh command, uummmmmm B.S. Its funny they missed the most important line at the end of the ceremony. "You may now BEAT YOUR WIFE."

Paradise vs. Living Forever

i wonder; if the typical jw was given a choice between living 100 years in paradise or living forever in a society such as we have today, what would they choose?

what is the real draw, immortality or perfection?.

My favorite is the living in a spiritual paradise!! HAH!! When I told my parents that I wanted nothing to do with the org. I told them I've seen there "spiritual paradise" and if the same people are going to be there in the earthly paradise I definitely don't want to be there cuz it sucks!!

newbie and not understanding all of the aspects of this site

i have read alot on this site for a while and just have been absorbing it as i make my way.. one thing i noticed was alot said about abuse of children... i experienced the reverse...false stories told..believed by elders because of hidden agenda and 20+ years as special pioneers ..etc.

as of no count and belief in a new publisher destroyed our lives and children's lives.

the horror never stops ...some of our family is disassociated...some disfellowshipped...some inactive...some active..some on a fence...mostly because of one or two elders and the misapplication of their power and lack of love to our family.

Hi Maggie,

I am relatively new here too. I have been "out" for about a year and a half now, and I must admit to you I am a little bitter about things that happened to me. I think the best thing that has come from it all is that I found my true self. By that I mean I discovered what I like and dislike, how I feel, who I trust, who my friends are, (and I choose them) and how I spend my time.

If I may, I also learned to do something else. I had to take "GOD" out of the organization. What I mean by that is that I still believe there is a god, but there is no association to God and what the "organization" teaches about god in my mind. This has helped me alot. I hope you get comfort here. I have found this site tremendously helpful. I don't post much, but I read everyday, and there are a lot of new ones out there that are coming here and telling there story. When you hear it straight from the "wrongdoer" in their words its amazing what message prevails. Keep reading and keep an open mind. There are good people here. Many are still licking there wounds and the wound is very deep. Keep smiling.

oooohhhhh what have i done?

hmmm i havent been here in a while....but tonight i did something quite stupid......i sent an email to all friends etc.

because i'm moving and i wanted to give them my new address...and in a spur of the moment i decided to add an invitation already for my birthday party.....then while i pressed the send button i saw that my very jw cousin was also in my list.........she might know im fading but i did it very carefully.....woops....... hmmmm.

the apparantly now-out-of-the-jw-closet-eppie....
